March is Women's History Month and it feels particularly pertinent to celebrate it this year, 100 years on from partial emancipation of women in Britain. Surprisingly today, many people do not want to call themselves feminists despite the definition being: the belief that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities. It is a word that has undergone pejoration and the meaning has been somewhat obscured.
We still do not have full equality between men and women in this country let alone around the world; issues such as the gender pay gap, the number of female politicians representing the country and the number of women in senior leadership roles are significant concerns. Find out more about Women’s History Month here: https://womenshistorymonth.gov/
Drive IQ software: It’s estimated that 95% of crashes involving young drivers aren’t anything to do with vehicle handling skills. That’s why completing the Drive iQ software can help fill the gaps. To create an account go to https://www.driveiq.co.uk/, click on Get Started, for school/college, choose Other, fill in your details and for school/college select Surrey, Godalming College. The software is free for all students to use.
DEBATING SOCIETY- The Debating Society meets every Friday lunchtime in Room 213 (History Corridor) for fun, friendly debates on topical issues which you choose.
