CAREERS: Aim High, Oxbridge & MVD (U6)
Topic outline

Cambridge provide a variety of resources which are also very useful for Oxford applicants - and vice versa. Please check the links below.
Our local authority has been linked to Churchill College - http://www.chu.cam.ac.uk/ - although "participation in the Area Links Scheme initiatives does not influence whether Colleges invite applicants for interview or offer them places. Please also note that the Area Links Scheme does not preclude you from contacting, or being contacted by, a College other than your Link College. The scheme is enabling, not prescriptive".
Entry to most courses is made on the basis of three A levels at A*A*A grades (or Maths A*A*AA where Further Maths should be included) although discretion and variation are both possible (see Churchill College link above). However, specific A levels will be required for specific courses and some will also require other further material (STEP papers for Mathematics, EPQ requirements, BMAT or Cambridge Law Tests ... the list goes on). Not every College offers every course.
You must check both subject and college requirements carefully. I recommend that you look closely at individual college websites as well as the main Cambridge site - they have a wealth of helpful information and advice. See for example the "Trinity List" below.
Footnote: we have had students apply to Cambridge - successfully - with offers other than A* grades - for example using the Mathematics Olympiad which was a backdoor for one candidate into Trinity College. This is highly unusual, although some candidates have been made very low offers after providing the predicted A* grades in advance, so keen were the colleges in question to have them. If you have a similar route, please explain it carefully to us , and always TAKE ADVICE from the university.
