Assignment for Dave King - 30th March. Outline and explain two problems with the use of official statistics in sociological research.

A SECOND ATTEMPT - APOLOGIES TO ALL INVOLVED. I've had to re-launch this from scratch. "Moodle Support" could not save the first attempt.

Instructions largely as before

• The format of this question should be in 2 main paragraphs using the "burger" model outlined earlier on the course. each paragraph should be as discrete as possible.
  • I would suggest that you start them thus:
    • One problem with official statistics is ...
    • A second problem with official statistics is ..
  • In other words GET TO THE POINT (or lose marks).
• You may use a very brief introductory paragraph but only to explain key terms (in this case, what are official statistics and why so popular?).
• Where possible, use examples from your reading, either from our classwork, our booklets or from any supplementary work you have done including contemporary examples. There are a LOT of examples all around us at present
• As with all 10 mark questions no conclusion is required or even desirable - it will not gain you marks to drift from the question. However, the use of counterarguments within your two paragraphs may enhance the depth of your answer (and your mark).
• There is a strict 1300 word limit. You may submit your answer on screen or upload a Word document, pdf or rtf document. No photos this time please.
