Component 1 Personal Study Independent Project (C1 Major Project)
The Extended Independent Project has developed from your 3 week project.
Bring your sketchbook to every lesson so that you can discuss your project with teachers. If you are absent, please contact us and arrange a time for a catch up. Communication is key. We are here to support you so please don't hesitate to contact us. To ensure you stay on track and develop your project, you need to produce a minimum of 4x A3 pages each week as part of classwork and homework.

Checklist - all of you should include pages of the following:
☐ Design Brief
☐ Research + Analysed research
☐ Initial typography (+ ☐ Initial logo design if required as part of your project)
☐ Initial pictorial
☐ Contact sheets of photos/shoots (if including photography)
☐ 2-4 designer studies. All of you had already completed 2 designer studies in the summer. Please make sure they are presented as part of the hand in 10/10/18. Some of you have been exploring new designers as discussed with teachers; by half term you should have explored a total of 4 artists/designers for your project.
☐ Typography development (+ ☐ logo development, if required as part of your project); off screen, digital, a combination of both.
☐ Imagery/pictorial development
☐ Combine typography and pictorial; create alternative versions of your designs; explore different lines of enquiry; ensure you are referencing the work/style of artists/designers/movement.
☐ Experimentation and exploration using range of mediums and techniques: off screen, digital and combination of both - use screenshots/take photos + annotations to help show your step by step process of how you create your designs.
☐ Layout and Composition Exploration.
☐ Double page spread of experimentation using carborundum printing e.g. for typography, illustration or logo design.
☐ Annotation throughout your current project.
☐ All annotation must be up to date for previous projects - word processed, printed onto tracing paper and attached as flaps/tabs. Annotations to include processes of techniques and work presented, your reflections on your work and progress, strengths and areas for improvement, successes, trials and errors - use graphic design terminology (Glossary available via Godalming Online) - reflect critically on your work and progress.
☐ As part of the Collections Research task that was set in week 1 to develop your Personal Study, you were asked to take 3 high quality photos a week in relation to a theme/topic of your choice, which should relate to your project. By now you should have a minimum of 12 photos; please print your photos as a contact sheet on A4 tracing paper, attach as a flap to your coursework using paper clips. Reminder - by the first week of December you should have a total of 36 photographs.
