Hello All

Great to see some of you yesterday. As I write, we still do not know any detail about how your grades will be awarded. I have heard all sorts of rumours about this that and the other, often from people who seem to be experts on a new topic every day. We do not know yet, and, when we are told, it will take a while for us to produce systems of assessment that are fair, transparent and give you the grades you deserve. We will get there. In terms of what to do in the meantime, I would focus on any remote learning activities that are required to finish the specification in other subjects. It seems right to finish the course! I am not setting any specific activity for this afternoons lessons, I don't think your heart would be in it. We have finished the spec, you have sorted your coursework, you have looked at loads of past questions. You are in a good position. Focus on the other subjects (if required), finish off that art / graphics / photography work (it is still important, even if you do not know how/if it will be assessed), rehearse your drama, geek over your physics and maths. Kevin says that Sports leaders no longer require you to get your 10 hours signed off if you haven't already. It would be good to complete the evidence booklet that you have been working on. Do not email it to Kev, we will set up a feature on Godalming Online for you to upload the completed booklet.

I hope I will have news today and I will share immediately on here. Do not sit and listen to the hype or fake news, instead think about how you could help someone else. This does not need to be a big gesture of collecting everybody's food deliveries on your street, its helping your parent / guardian out who is stressed about their job, transport, you! Remember, you are not immune and your role in social distancing is just as important as someone like me in their 70's. These are scary times, someone will need you.

Yesterday was probably the single worst day of my teaching career, I felt powerless to give some of you the answers you need / deserve. I felt inadequate and, ultimately, I felt vulnerable. I did however go home to a healthy (ish) family and a dog who urinated on my foot (he hasn't done that for almost a year!?!) so, relatively speaking, I am doing OK and so are you. It will pass.

Stay safe and useful.

Danny
