In pairs, look at a few pages from the text and feedback on the GOL Glossary under A Handful of Dust on the following:
i) a brief summary of the section in a few sentences
ii) six examples in the form of direct quotations from the text together with an accompanying explanation that illuminate aspects of the different coursework questions:
- Human behaviour as it is presented in a secular world without God (often depicted as futile, destructive, unpredictable and evasive but sometimes honourable, if misguided, and affectionate.
- Types of disintegration in modern life
- How language and other forms of communication often mask real feelings or intent
- Any patterning (echoes, repetitions, contrasts and cycles)
