Accent & Dialect in Literature
How do authors present characters' voices in their novels? What might we be able to deduce from these representations? How are extra-linguistic variables communicated through this medium? In this session, Advanced Linguistics explores how accent and dialect is incorporated in literature bridging the two English disciplines. This session will be useful for A level English students who want to consider attitudes to speech varieties.
