Prioritising Tip #2 - Breaking your work into chunks

If the amount of work on your priority list still feels overwhelming, consider breaking it all down into smaller, more realistic chunks:

If you learn to break things down into manageable chunks that work for you, you’ll realise how easy it is to get all your work done by deadlines. Stay calm and remember to ask for help if you need it!

BREAK

To practice breaking your work down, complete the Quick Activity worksheet below for the next college week. You may not have very much work to complete yet, but it's a good idea to get into this habit now, or to at least try it out so that you know how to do it later when you really need it! If you currently do not seem to have very much to do, don't forget that you should also be using your time to organise your notes and read around you subjects, so you could add those tasks in for this week.

QAQuick Activity:

Complete the worksheet below, listing the work you need to do for the next week of college in the first table, and then breaking it down into daily manageable chunks in the second table.

This is an essential activity. You can upload it using the upload link below so that you can always access it in future on this page by clicking again on the upload link and viewing your word or pdf document.

Wherever possible, with coursework subjects, get a copy of the final deadlines at the start of the term so that you can break your work down into sensible chunks and get the work finished on time – no last minute rushes!
